Bike riders going to Shergarh to get medicine in Bareilly were hit by an overloaded truck laden with sugarcane coming from the opposite direction. Due to this, a two and a half year old child riding on the bike died. His father was seriously injured. Mother also got hurt. After the accident, angry people caught the truck driver. Beat him up. The police reached the spot and saved the truck driver from the crowd. The crowd remained gathered on the road for a long time, causing a traffic jam. People calmed down after two and a half hours after the police explained. Only then could the jam be cleared. The police sent the child for post-mortem.

30 year old Mahendra Pal, resident of village Delpur of Shergarh police station area, was going to the town to take medicine with his wife Maya Devi and two and a half year old son Arpit. Meanwhile, his bike was hit by a truck coming from the opposite direction near the bypass intersection of Shahi Shergarh-Baheri road. Due to this, innocent Arpit riding the bike died on the spot. His body dragged for several metres. The body was badly mutilated. The child’s father Mahendra Pal was seriously injured. People immediately sent him to Bareilly for treatment. His condition remains critical. Maya Devi’s leg is injured.
After the accident the truck driver started running away. People caught him, took him down from the truck and beat him. Police reached the spot after receiving information and rescued the driver from the crowd and brought him to the police station. On the other hand, within some time the villagers of Delpur village also reached the spot. Blocked the road. CO Bahedi Arun Kumar reached there on information. People were adamant on asking the police to call the truck owner to the spot. The police kept explaining, but he was not ready to accept it.
